Sunkee TransPozitive Member at Being Alive
New Client Member Sunkee, a Transpositive Woman at Being Alive.

Because of the widespread discrimination in every facet of life, trans women oftentimes fall through the cracks of society. This is especially true in regards to their psychological and sexual health. Join us at TransPozitive: A Transgender Women’s HIV Support Group.  Meetings will be held at 7990 Santa Monica Blvd. in West Hollywood.

At Being Alive, we recognize the resilience of our transgender members and we build on those strengths in order to help our clients live a more fulfilling and authentic life. We are passionate about meeting our members’ unique needs and making the journey towards health feel a little less intimidating.

We do not view drug use or sex work as inherently bad. We are not here to make moral judgments. If you are concerned with your drug use or survival sex, we can help.

Beginning Wednesday, May 6 from 10:30am – noon, Being Alive will sponsor a weekly support group for anyone who identifies as a transgender woman through gender identity and/or expression and has HIV or is impacted by HIV. The facilitators are culturally competent and have special training in working with HIV-positive trans women.  We will have specialists come to talk monthly about housing, legal, medical, and employment resources. Women will also have the opportunity to receive facilitation and outreach training. This is an excellent opportunity to develop leadership skills.  Snacks will be provided!

Come to this new support group to make new friends, learn, and feel empowered.
